DR. IRINA BABAYAN
After graduating from Portland High School (Portland, ME), Dr. Irina Babayan attended Bates College (Lewiston, Maine) where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Babayan received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry (New York, NY) and following her graduation from dental school pursued General Practice Residency training to enhance her dental education at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY).
Her training in New York broadened her academic, clinical and diagnostic skills well beyond conventional dental school education. Dr. Babayan received extensive experience treating medically compromised and special patients while living in New York City. She learned firsthand how to assess and treat dental and facial trauma emergencies. Dr. Babayan has gained advanced comprehensive clinical experience in the multiple disciplines of dentistry at the post-doctoral level while practicing in one of the world’s largest cities.
She believes strongly in continuing education to better serve her patients and is committed to staying abreast of the newest techniques used in modern dentistry. Her memberships to professional organizations include American Dental Association, Maine Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Babayan is dedicated to bringing an exceptional level of dental care to her community.

DR. NANCY SARGENT
Dr. Nancy Sargent was encouraged and inspired by her grandfather, Dr. Sterling Lafayette Davis (Emory Dental College, Class of 1909), to enter the Medical College of Virginia Dental School in Richmond, Virginia. She was commissioned in the USNR in 1974, having received a Naval Reserve Scholarship, and after graduating with a degree Doctor of Dental Surgery began full-time active duty in 1978. As a Naval officer, Dr. Sargent proudly served her country, ensuring readiness and dental health in Naval personnel at Naval Station San Francisco, Naval Air Station Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico, and Naval Air Station Norfolk, Virginia, where she earned commendations as officer in charge of the dental clinic serving the Navy’s Early Warning Squadrons, and wrote articles and spoke at Navy facilities. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1982.
With the birth of her son, she transferred to the USNR-R, where she served for 3 years in Norfolk, VA; Portsmouth, NH; and Portland and Augusta, ME. In 1983, she joined the practice of Dr. Carroll Ross (who retired in 1989). She has also served on the board of the Center for Community Dental Health, been a proctor at the University of New England School of Dental Hygiene, and has spoken at local schools and hospitals about dental care and consulted at various clinics.
She has been happily married since 1980 to Colin W. Sargent, and raised a son, Colin S. Sargent. She and her husband founded award-winning Portland Magazine in 1986. She has been so grateful to the many wonderful friends, families, and staff members who have helped her grow her practice in the Falmouth Shopping Center for these 25+ years and is excited to be sharing the experience now with Dr. Irina Babayan, a dear longtime friend; together, they embrace the concept of excellence in dental treatment with a life-long committment to all of our patients with the personal touch in a caring and friendly atmosphere.
